Americans distrust AI despite rising adoption
TechCrunch·
A recent Quinnipiac University poll reveals a significant paradox: while more Americans are using AI tools for various tasks like research and writing, a vast majority express distrust in the results. Over 76% of respondents rarely or only sometimes trust AI-generated information, contrasting with the 27% who have never used AI tools. This widespread hesitation is fueled by concerns about AI's future impact, with 80% expressing worry and 55% believing it will do more harm than good. Furthermore, two-thirds of Americans feel companies are not transparent enough about their AI usage and that government regulation is insufficient.
