Arcee releases powerful, open-source U.S.-made AI model

Arcee AI has launched Trinity-Large-Thinking, a 399-billion parameter, text-only reasoning model under the Apache 2.0 license. This move provides enterprises with a customizable, commercially usable, U.S.-based alternative to increasingly closed frontier AI models. The model utilizes a sparse Mixture-of-Experts architecture, activating only 13 billion parameters per token for enhanced speed and efficiency. Arcee's strategic bet on this open-weight model aims to fill a growing demand for domestic AI champions, especially as businesses express discomfort with relying on foreign architectures for critical infrastructure.
