Chrome blocks remaining old ad blockers
The Verge·
Google Chrome is set to eliminate the last workarounds for older ad blockers in upcoming versions 150 and 151. This move follows the earlier phase-out of Manifest V2 ad blockers, which impacted extensions like uBlock Origin. Users who haven't already transitioned to Manifest V3-compatible ad blockers or alternative browsers will find their existing solutions cease to function. The company is removing the final code references to the older platform, ensuring only ad blockers built on the newer Manifest V3 standard will operate in Chrome from version 151 onwards.
