Cloudflare is launching Agents Week to address the evolving needs of the internet, particularly with the rise of AI. Traditional cloud infrastructure, designed for a one-to-many application model, is ill-equipped for the one-to-one nature of AI agents. Each agent requires a unique execution environment, unlike the standardized approach of microservices and containers. This shift necessitates a new infrastructure paradigm to handle the massive scale of billions of individual agents, a challenge that current cloud models cannot meet efficiently. Cloudflare's Workers, built on V8 isolates, offer a more suitable, lightweight, and efficient solution for these ephemeral, single-purpose execution environments.
