CrowdStrike, Google dismantle Glassworm botnet

CrowdStrike, in collaboration with Google and Shadowserver, has successfully dismantled the Glassworm botnet, a significant threat targeting open-source software developers for two years. This operation aimed to disrupt cybercriminals who were pushing malware and stealing credentials through malicious code injections into software supply chains. The botnet exploited trust in platforms like GitHub, compromising developer accounts and repositories to distribute malware. By taking down four command-and-control channels, the operation has significantly hindered the hackers' ability to infect systems and deliver further malicious payloads, protecting numerous downstream organizations.
