TechCrunch·
The notorious cybercrime group ShinyHunters has claimed responsibility for breaching Oracle PeopleSoft servers at over 100 organizations, many of which are universities. This enterprise software manages critical functions like payroll and human resources. The hackers reportedly exfiltrated sensitive data including student records, personal contact information, and financial aid details. ShinyHunters specializes in exploiting vulnerabilities in popular software to compromise numerous victims simultaneously. Their initial goal was to target an FBI PeopleSoft server to issue a statement, but this attempt failed. Oracle has not yet commented on the incident.
