EU delays AI Act, backs nude app ban

European lawmakers have voted to delay significant portions of the EU AI Act, the bloc's comprehensive artificial intelligence regulation. This move, supported by a substantial majority in the European Parliament, will push back compliance deadlines for developers of high-risk AI systems until December 2027. Companies working with AI in sectors like medical devices or toys will have until August 2028. Alongside these delays, lawmakers also approved measures to ban nudify applications, indicating a dual approach to managing AI's societal impact.
