Europe cyber agency blames gangs for data breach
TechCrunch·
Europe's cybersecurity agency, CERT-EU, has identified TeamPCP as the cybercriminal group responsible for a significant data breach affecting the European Commission. The attack, which compromised an Amazon Web Services account, resulted in the theft of approximately 92 gigabytes of compressed data, including personal information and email contents. This stolen data was subsequently leaked online by another hacking group, ShinyHunters. The incident highlights a concerning trend of collaboration among cybercriminals, who are increasingly working together to extort victims. The breach originated from a compromised security tool, Trivy, which inadvertently provided hackers with a secret API key.
