Google, Intel Expand AI Infrastructure Partnership

Google Cloud and Intel have extended their multi-year collaboration, focusing on AI infrastructure development. Google Cloud will continue to leverage Intel's Xeon processors, including the latest Xeon 6 chips, for critical AI, cloud, and inference workloads. This partnership also involves expanding the co-development of custom Infrastructure Processing Units (IPUs) designed to enhance data center efficiency by offloading tasks from central processing units. The expanded deal underscores the growing demand for robust CPU solutions in the AI sector, as these chips are essential for running AI models and supporting overall AI infrastructure, complementing the role of GPUs in AI model training.
