Hackers exploit unpatched Windows flaws
TechCrunch·
Cybersecurity firm Huntress reports that hackers are actively exploiting three unpatched Windows security vulnerabilities, dubbed BlueHammer, UnDefend, and RedSun. These flaws, particularly affecting Windows Defender, allow attackers to gain administrator-level access to affected systems. The exploit code was published online by a security researcher, reportedly due to a dispute with Microsoft. While Microsoft has patched BlueHammer, the other two vulnerabilities remain unaddressed, creating a race between defenders and cybercriminals to secure systems before widespread exploitation occurs. This situation highlights the risks associated with 'full disclosure' when communication between researchers and vendors breaks down.
