Rivian R2 electric SUV achieves 335 miles range
Ars Technica·
The upcoming Rivian R2 electric SUV has reportedly achieved an official EPA range estimate of 335 miles on 21-inch wheels. This figure slightly exceeds Rivian's initial projection of at least 330 miles. Interestingly, fitting smaller 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires reduces the estimated range to 314 miles. The R2, positioned to enter the mainstream market, will start at $57,990 for the Performance trim, with a Premium trim available later in 2026. A more affordable $45,000 version with a smaller battery is expected in late 2027. The vehicle features an 87.9 kWh battery pack, a maximum DC fast-charging rate of 210 kW, and an improved standard heat pump.
