Snapchat restricts content sharing for underage users
TechCrunch·
Snapchat is implementing new content restrictions for users under 16 to enhance safety and reduce pressure. Those aged 13-15 will only be able to share Spotlight posts with mutual followers, and their content will not display engagement metrics. Users aged 16-18 can still share publicly but with limitations to friends and mutual connections. These changes aim to protect younger users from potential doxxing and the negative impacts of social comparison. Parents will gain more insight into their children's platform usage via the Family Center, reflecting a broader industry trend of social media platforms increasing protections for teen users.
