Solana firm Helius acquires Light Protocol
The Block·
Solana infrastructure provider Helius has acquired Light Protocol, a move aimed at bolstering on-chain privacy solutions within the Solana ecosystem. Light Protocol, initially founded to bring zero-knowledge privacy to Solana, later pivoted to co-develop ZK Compression with Helius. This acquisition allows Light Protocol to return to its original mission, leveraging its cryptographic expertise alongside Helius's established infrastructure and distribution channels. The combined efforts are expected to focus on developing a ZK-based protocol for private payments and decentralized finance applications on Solana, addressing a growing interest in on-chain privacy.
