SpaceX alum raises $22M for geothermal power plants
TechCrunch·
Critical Energy, a startup founded by a SpaceX alumnus, has secured $22 million in funding to develop modular turbines for geothermal power plants. The company aims to leverage its experience in rocket engine design to create efficient, factory-built turbines that can be rapidly deployed, addressing a key bottleneck in the geothermal energy sector. This funding will support the construction of their first 2.5-megawatt project, slated for completion by 2027. Critical Energy believes geothermal power can scale faster than nuclear fusion or fission, potentially powering a significant portion of new data centers by 2030.
