SpaceX Starship V3 launches, booster lost
TechCrunch·
SpaceX successfully launched its upgraded Starship V3 rocket for the first time, marking a significant step despite partial mission failures. The 407-foot rocket lifted off from Starbase, Texas, but the Super Heavy booster experienced an issue during its return, likely exploding in the Gulf of Mexico. The Starship upper stage also lost an engine during ascent. This test is crucial for SpaceX's development of the rocket, intended for lunar, Martian, and satellite deployment missions. The launch also precedes SpaceX's anticipated mid-June IPO, aiming to raise $75 billion for further development, AI initiatives, and debt repayment.
