Steam Deck prices increase significantly
Ars Technica·
Valve's Steam Deck handheld gaming device is back in stock after months of unavailability, but with substantially higher prices. The 512GB OLED model now costs $789, an increase of $240, while the 1TB version is priced at $949, up $300. Valve attributes these price hikes to component shortages and global logistical challenges impacting the consumer tech industry. The discontinuation of the base 256GB LCD model leaves the significantly more expensive OLED versions as the primary options. This pricing strategy places the Steam Deck in competition with other premium handhelds from Asus and Lenovo.
