Wikipedia bans AI-generated text for articles
TechCrunch·
Wikipedia has officially prohibited the use of AI-generated text in its articles, updating its policy to explicitly ban Large Language Models (LLMs) from creating or rewriting content. While AI is not entirely forbidden from the editorial process, this new rule clarifies previous guidelines that were less stringent. The decision, supported by a significant majority of editors, aims to maintain the integrity and accuracy of information on the platform. Editors can still use AI for minor copy-edits on their own writing, provided it's reviewed by a human and doesn't introduce new information or alter the original meaning.
