Reddit requires human verification for suspicious accounts
The Verge·
Reddit is enhancing its bot detection capabilities by requiring accounts exhibiting "fishy" or automated behavior to undergo human verification. This new policy includes a labeling system for registered bot accounts, designated with an "[APP]" tag. Unlabeled accounts displaying suspicious activity will also be prompted to prove they are human. Verification methods may involve biometric scans or identity document submission, depending on the user's location and regulatory requirements. The platform aims to improve user trust and combat misinformation by ensuring a higher degree of human interaction on the site.
