Sony Bravia TVs remove features for antenna users
Ars Technica·
Sony is disabling certain features for users of its Bravia smart TVs who rely on antennas or set-top boxes, starting in late May 2026. Affected models, including some from 2023, 2024, and 2025, will experience a reduced TV guide with fewer program details and no channel logos or thumbnail images for antenna-delivered content. The dedicated menu for set-top box users will be replaced with a simpler control menu, potentially limiting functionality. While Sony has not provided a specific reason, the move may reflect a broader industry shift away from traditional TV viewing methods towards streaming services, potentially reducing costs associated with maintaining these features.
